Memories from Thailand

It's finally really cold round here.
And so, while my craft table is full once again of Christmas pixies, garlands and Santas (how I love to prepare them all listening to festive season songs!)  and outside the window the sky is dark, I feel a bit nostagic thinking about last summer.
It's not the summer itself I miss (I do much prefer winter!) but holidays and travels. So I decided to share with you the memories from last summer trip. Fasten your seatbelt, we're flying to Thailand!

Bangkok, with its temples, the royal palace and the flower market (unfortunately we hadn't the chance to go and visit the floating market!)
Greetings from....Bangkok!

Greetings from.....Bangkok!
The archaeological sites of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, unbelievably breathtaking. Khmer architecture, temples which bear the evidence of the passage of the Europeans (when having a Buddha's head in the living room was a fashion, so the poor statues are beheaded) and vegetation that tries to recover its place.
Greetings from..... Ayutthaya!

Greetings from.....Sukhothai!

Lampang anche the Elephant Conservation Center (with an elephant-ride in the jungle included) and the Tiger Kingdom, where I could hug 2, 3 and 9 months old baby tigers (well, baby....)

The deep North, with the small cities of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Sai and Chiang Saen, with beautiful colorful Lanna temples on top of the hills, protected by many dragon-snakes, the architecture that recalls the chinese one, the colorful markets and so much  gold everywhere. The Mekong River!
Greetings from.... the North!

Finally, some quiet days on the Island of Koh Samet, where I tried my first snorkeling (I wouldn't want to stop then! so many fish! It was like being inside an aquarium!). Warm water, much sun (too much for me indeed.... as I obviously burnt myself although I had used the highest protection on the market!) and our little bungalow surrounded by banana trees.

Greetings from.... Koh Samet!

Wonderful Country. I love the Far East and this journey has confirmed it once again. I wasn't so convinced at first, I would have preferred something that in my mind was less touristic, like Laos, Cambodia or Sri Lanka but at the end it has been a lovely experience. Although my fears for the monsoon (which luckily has spared us, with the exeption of one evening heavy rain that ended in a sky full of stars as I had never seen before), for the high humidity (which wasn't worse than this july in Milan) and for the mosquitoes (which we hadn't almost seen)... really really wonderful!
