Ancora un po' di poesia...

Il Gelsomino Notturno

E s'aprono i fiori notturni
nell'ora che penso a' miei cari.
Sono apparse in mezzo ai viburni
le farfalle crepuscolari.
Da un pezzo si tacquero i gridi:
là sola una casa bisbiglia.
Sotto l'ali dormono i nidi
come gli occhi sotto le ciglia.
Dai calici aperti si esala
l'odore di fragole rosse.
Splende un lume là nella sala.
Nasce l'erba sopra le fosse.
Un'ape tardiva sussurra
trovando già prese le celle.
La Chioccetta per l'aia azzurra
va col suo pigolio di stelle.
Per tutta la notte s'esala
l'odore che passa col vento.
Passa il lume su per la scala;
brilla al primo piano: s'è spento....
E' l'alba: si chiudono i petali
un poco gualciti; si cova
dentro l'urna molle e segreta
non so che felicità nuova.

(Giovanni Pascoli)

Have I already said I love Giovanni Pascoli?
Maybe I have. But every time I spend some time on my balcony, in these days, I can't help thinking of the lovely poem "Il Gelsomino Notturno". Simply I can't help it.
The delicate scent of my jasmine tree envelops me, hugs me, as it were to sooth all my sadness and confusion.
And I feel so safe in its sweetness.
Serenity.

a bit of Shakespeare

ANTONIO: Non so davvero perchè sono tanto triste.

 ANTONIO:
In sooth, I know not why I am so sad:
It wearies me; you say it wearies you;
But how I caught it, found it, or came by it,
What stuff 'this made of, whereof it is born,
I am to learn;
And such a want-wit sadness makes of me,
That I have much ado to know myself.

This is the beginning of "The Merchant of Venice".
Genius of Poetry, this Shakespeare, who, with a couple of rapid touches describes one of the most common feelings: pure melancholy, with no reason, living just for itself and which ends up in the sadness that's so tedious for oneself and for the others. His friends say that it comes from being worried for his ships on the sea. He relpies it isn't and I believe him.
The character of Antonio is maybe my favourite among all the ones born from Shakespeare's mind because I hee him so "whole". No matter what happens, he's a strong, generous and brave man, who offers everything, also his very self to help his friend in need. And his melancholy is a permanent sahde of his being, in my opinion.

And today I feel exactly like this....

Dolls of the World - Egypt

After visiting the two countries in which were born the ancient oriental civilizations, Tilda came back home. But as she's really fond of archaeology and ancient art she couldn't but stop in Egypt, where one of the most important mediterranean cultures developed.
These are the pictures that summarize my trip: the delicate sand colour everywhere, on the groung, on the monuments where the hieroglyphics embellish the walls with their shadows and shapes and along the Nile. The Nile, the mythical river, flowing sweetly among desert and palm trees that, getting closer to Aswan become fewer and fewer.
A wonderful cruise, an absolute feeling of freedom and joy. And it's deep joy the feeling I recall first when I think of this trip.
My best memories from Egypt

So here you are an elegant princess of the Nile.
The dress is a feet-long tunic in a white chiffon, very slighly creased. At her waist a golden belt connects the skirt to the top and then divides in two.
On her shoulder she also wears a long mantel made of the same white chiffon.

But the pieces I'm most proud of are the accessories. A large collar made of a folded golden ribbon on which I have created a decoration similar to the ancient egyptian jewels by embroidering three rows of seed beads in blue and red.
Two arm bracelets which are simply two large golden rings that I have bent with the pilers to create the "snake" effect and a couple of golden scarab earrings (lovely charms I have found on Etsy). I'm so happy and proud of these earrings!!!

As I am of the headdress, which I created with an enstrenghten dark blue cotton copying the Nefertiti crown. After creating the main body I added the large central golden sash and I applied a smaller ribbon which I had painstakingly embroided with green and red thread to create the squared pattern.

What do you think?
This gown has been really long and difficult to create, both for the realization of the accessories (I won't reveal how many times I did and undid the collar!) and for deciding which kind of tunic realize. The egyptian art is so full of beautiful representations of dresses that the decision has been the hardest part!.
In the complex I'm very happy with the result: a dramatic difference with the first verson (here the post), isn't it??
