Super Easy Halloween Wreath

Hello!! Ci stiamo avvicinando ad Halloween! Come da tradizione il Gatto Arancione ospiterà il suo famoso Halloween Party ed io mi sono trovata a decorare la mia sua casa.
Negli States case e portici sono decorate da settimane, io invece ho aspettato questi giorni. Addobbare solo per il 31 mi sembrava brutto: per una settimana la mia casa è trasformata nell'antro della Strega!
Vi faccio vedere come ho realizzato la corona da appendere sulla porta: un tutorial per un progettino super veloce e facilissimo!

Hello! We're getting close to Halloween! The Orange Cat will host his traditional Halloween Party and so I found myself decorating my his home. 
In the States houses and porches have been decorated for weeks but I waited these last days. I thought it a pity to hang my decorations only on the night of the 31st: now my home has been really transformed into the Witch's Cave!
I show you how I realized the wreath to be hung on my door: a quick tutorial for a super quick and easy small project!

Ho "sacrificato" per questi giorni il telaio in legno per ricamare e l'ho coperto con strisce di tulle nero semplicemente annodate intorno ad esso. Ci si mette un pochino perchè ogni striscia va annodata singolarmente, ma nulla di che! Le strisce sono assolutamente irregolari, qualcuna più lunga e qualcuna più larga. Poi le ho sistemate in modo che il nodo cadesse per alcune sul lato interno del cerchio e per altre sul lato esterno. In questo modo aumenta la "vaporosità" della corona.
Infine.... ho aggiunto qualche pallina dell'albero di Natale arancione.

I "sacrificed" for some days my wooden embroidery hoop and I covered it with black tulle stripes simply knotted around it. It takes a bit as you have to knot each and every stripe, but it's not that bad. They are absolutely irregular: some are wider, some are longer... then I adjusted them around the hoop so that some have the knot on the inside, some on the outside, in order to make the wreath very fluffy. At last I added some orange Christmas tree baubles.

Fall Jewellery

Non so perchè, ma quando mi trovo a scrivere un post sui miei lavori mi viene da mostrare le creazioni in stoffa, sia come decorazioni per la casa, come bambole/softies per bambini o cose più utili come borse, pochette, portamonete.
Non mi viene quasi mai da mostrarvi cosa realizzo con pietre dure, perline, cristalli. Chissà perchè.
Oggi allora un piccolo post sui gioielli autunnali che ho fatto le scorse settimane. Nei toni e nei colori che mi piacciono tanto: i marroni, l'ambra, lo champagne, l'arancio e il verde.
E per i nomi (qualcuno mi chiede)? Ritengo più carino trovare un nome per le mie creazioni e di volta in volta cerco di ispirarmi al periodo in cui li creo o ai colori. Quest'estate ci sono state le collezioni hawaiiane, tropicali ecc. Quest'autunno sono stati i meravigliosi colori del New England ad ispirarmi: così abbiamo Vermont e Maine ma anche tutti i favolosi piatti autunnali tipici di queste zone!! E un tocco di Halloween..

I don't know why, but when I write a post about my craft, I tend to show you only the fabric creations, such as decorations for the home, dolls and softies for kids or something more useful like bags or pouches. I seldom show you ehat I realize with gem stones, beads and small crystals. Don't know why.

So, today, a small post on the jewellery I created in the last weeks. In the beautiful colors of browns, amber, champagne, oranges and greens.
And what bout the names? I find it nicer if I find a name for each of my pieces. I usually take inspiration in the season or the colours of the beads. This summer I had the hawaiian and the tropical collections. This fall I let my mind wander through the beautiful New England's colours, so I have Maine and Vermont, but also the yummy fall dishes typical of these places!! And a little touch of Halloween...

Decluttering the bedroom - jewellery storage

Sono finalmente tornata dopo una settimana veramente frenetica! Non voglio certo lamentarmi ma ogni tanto mi sembra di non avere nemmeno il tempo per respirare, poi invece ripenso a come ero un paio d'anni fa e mi rendo conto di quanto la mia vita sia cambiata e dei privilegi che in un certo senso ho.

I have finally come back to my blog, after a frenzy week. I have no intention of whine but I sometimes feel I don't even have the time to breathe and then I think of how my life was a couple of years ago and I realize how much it has changed and I count the privileges I have.

Oggi vi mostro come ho risolto il problema dei braccialetti, sempre nel discorso di eliminare, riorganizzare e rendere più ordinata la mia casetta.
In inglese i braccialetti si dividono in 2 categorie (hanno anche 2 diverse terminologie): "bangles" sono i  bracciali chiusi, che si infilano mentre "bracelets" sono i braccialetti che di possono chiudere, in genere con un moschettone.
Parliamo dei miei poveri bangles. Sono stati tenuti nei modi più disparati: l'ultima trovata era stato un pezzo di fil di ferro infilato nel centro e poi chiuso da quando li ho fatti cadere in modo molto maldestro e i miei bellissimi bracciali ricordo del viaggio in India si sono quasi tutti rotti. La soluzione era chiaramente orribile e nella mia testa assolutamente temporanea. E' durata circa un anno.

I'm still downshifting, decluttering and reorganizing my home. Today I show you how I have solved the problem of my poor bangles.  They have been kept together in many ways, the last idea was a wire with which I tied them all. This was the solution I found when I made them fall and almost all my precious bangles I bought in India broke. It was clearly horrible and in my mind absolutely temporary. It lasted about one year.

Poi mi sono decisa e dopo aver sistemato gli orecchini ho concluso che anche loro meritavano di meglio. Ergo: tirata fuori la macchina da cucire ho preparato due cilindri che ho riempito di imbottitura a formare due bei salamotti. Nelle cuciture laterali ho inserito due nastri in modo che, una volta infilati i braccialetti e fatto il fiocco non potessero scivolare giù.
Per le stoffe ho usato le due tinte della mia camera: un lino verde salvia e un cotone beige, addolcito da piccoli fiori bianchi. Il nastro è avorio.
Guardate un po'! Molto meglio, non vi pare??
Lo so che sono molti... ma da quando ho iniziato a farmi io le cose che mi piacciono, le collezioni di orecchini e braccialetti soprattutto sono esplose!

Bangles organizers

After putting in order all the earrings I decided the bangles deserved something better too. So I sewed two cylinders, filled with batting and in which I inserted two pieces of ribbon so that when I inserted the bangles they would not slip.
I used two fabrics with the colours of my bedroom: a sage green linen and a beige cotton with small and delicate white flowers. The ribbon is ivory.
Look at the result! Much better, isn't it???
I know they're many but since I've started doing myself all the jewellery I like, my collection (mainly of earrings and bracelets) exploded!!

Bangles organizers

Ho sistemato anche i braccialetti con chiusura e utilizzerò lo stesso metodo per le collane ma... è un'altra storia. Anticipazione? Think vertical!

I also put in order all the bracelets and I'm going to use the same solution also for the necklaces but this is another post. An anticipation? Think vertical!!

A little bit of poetry

ARANO

Al campo, dove roggio nel filare

qualche pampano brilla, e dalle fratte

sembra la nebbia mattinal fumare,

Amo molto la poesia di Pascoli, poeta malinconico ed autunnale.
Con poche parole, semplici ma estremamente curate e cesellate rende viva la campagna toscana e la sua vita lenta ma importante.
Qualche estate fa ho seguito un lavoro in Garfagnana e ho passato le sere tra la menta selvatica, sotto un cielo brillante di stelle a leggere I Canti di Castelvecchio. Non dimenticherò mai la tranquillità di quelle sere.

Stavo preparando i vasi per la semina dei bulbi autunnali, che (spero) fioriranno la prossima primavera e mentre rivoltavo la terra per farle prendere aria e acqua (meno male che piove!) mi sono tornati in mente i versi di questa splendida piccola poesia.
Che ne pensate? Amate la poesia? C'è un poeta che avete nel cuore?

I can't translate this little poem by one of my favourite italian authors, Giovanni Pascoli. He talks about his land, Tuscany, and with simple but extremely well chosen words he brings to life the countryside life. I'm sorry, but whichever word I use it will do the little poem no justice at all.
Some years ago, one summer I was doing a job in Garfagnana and I spent my evenings among the mint plants, under a sky brilliant for the many stars reading I Canti di Castelvecchio (a collection of poems by Pascoli). I'll always remember that feeling of peace.

I was preparing my vases for the sowing of the autumn plants (daffodils, tulips...) which I hope will bloom next sping and while I was moving the soil to areate it and let it get wet (luckily it's raining in these days), I suddenly recalled the verses of this splendid little poem.

Una cosa seria

Il mio blog è nato per parlare di craft, di viaggi, di home decor.
E' un piccolo spazio, un po' frivolo, se volete, che mi sono ritagliata per riflessioni personali. Ma credo nella potenza del web per la trasmissione di notizie e oggi voglio parlare di una cosa seria.

Ottobre è il mese della prevenzione del tumore al seno.
Per tutto il mese è possibile effettuare delle visite gratuite nei centri diagnostici.
Non aspettate.
Non fate l'errore di pensare nemmeno per un istante che ci siano cose  più importanti.
Nessun appuntamento di lavoro, nessuna scadenza, nessun capo vi deve convincere che sia altrimenti. Davvero.

E non cedete neppure quando in ospedale vi fanno storie perchè ritengono l'esame superfluo. Insistete, litigateci anche. Con i problemi che ha la sanità in Italia cercheranno di minimizzare l'importanza dell'esame.
Non cedete.


Non pensate "ma sono troppo giovane, ma queste cose capitano più avanti".
Capitano quando vogliono.
