Oriente, mon amour (II)

Ecco come promesso le mie nuove creazioni in tema di Oriente!
Innanzitutto una serie di deliziosi portachiavi: visto il grande successo dei muffin (potete trovarli qui ) ho creato queste piccole bamboline giapponesi, stile kokeshi, tutte in feltro con una fasciona in vita realizzata con vero tessuto per kimoni. Adorabili!!

Here you are, as promised, my new creations orient-style!
First of all, a new serie of lovely keychains: considering the big success of the muffins, (you can find them here) I created these small japanes dolls, kokeshi style. They're all made of felt, swith a big sash made of real kimono fabric. Lovely!!

E poi ecco una piccola collezione di bigiotteria realizzata con perle cinesi di lavorazione cloisonné. Quest'anno spopolerà l'oriente tra la primavera e l'estate e ho iniziato a portarmi avanti.

Then, a little collection of jewellery, realized with chinese cloisonné beads. This year the oriental touch will be a must of spring and summer, so I started to work on it.

mini-zakka sets

Ed infine, sempre con tessuti per i kimoni (ma non solo), ecco quelli che chiamo i miei mini-zakka set: un piccolo portamonete e un piccolo porta-qualsiasi cosa da tenere nella borsa o da appendere al passante dei jeans. Zakka è uno stile molto jap, essenziale ma anche fumettoso, una via di mezzo fra il rigore e la pazzia che li porta ad essere i più grandi fumettisti del mondo. Ecco il mio piccolo omaggio alla tendenza.
Il modello della pochettina chiusa col bottone è la bubble pouch di Keyka Lou, l'altro è mio.

Last but not least, also made with kimono fabric (but not only that), here you are what I call my mini-zakka sets: a small purse and a small pouch for anything-you-wish. Zakka is a japanese style, essential but also comic-like, a sort of compromise between their rigour and madness that make them the biggest anime creators in the world.
The pattern of the button closed pouch is Keyka Lou (the bubble pouch) while the other is mine.


ps: mentre cucio queste cose mi dedico ovviamnte alla cucina del Far East: noodles thailandesi con verdure e soia, riso bianco, ravioli cinesi a gameri saltati con il cavolo cinese, o yaki udon ai frutti di mare....il tutto con ottimo e bollente tè verde!!

Obviously whem I'm sewing these cuties I enjoy Far East cuisine: thai vegetarian noodles, white rice with chinese ravioli and prawns sauté with chinese cabbage or jap seafood yaki udon .... all of it with delicious green tea!

Oriente, mon amour... (I)

Buon Anno del Serpente a tutti! Oggi è il capodanno cinese ed inizia l'anno del Serpente. Io (come poteva essere altrimenti??) sono del Serpente, quindi spero che quest'anno mi porti molta fortuna. Sono anche stata smistata dal vero ed unico Cappello Parlante nella casa Serpeverde, se ci fosse ancora qualche dubbio....

In ogni caso, riflettevo in questi giorni sul mio amore per l'Oriente... Sia che si tratti delle elaborate e sensuali sculture dei Chandela in India, che del rigore di un tempio shintoista in Giappone o della pace assoluta dei classici giardini cinesi, il mio cuore batte forte. Speravo a Capodanno di riuscire a visitare la Cambogia ma per varie vicissitudini non ci sono riuscita.

 Happy Year of the Snake to everyone! Today is Chinese New Year's day and the Year of the Snake begins. I am a Snake (could it be different??) so I hope I'll be very lucky this year. - I have also been sorted into Slytherin House by the only and true Sorting Hat, should there be any doubt...

I was thinking of my love for the Orient, in these days. Whether it is the elaborate and sensual Chandela scupture in India, the simplicity of a Shintoist temple in Japan or the complete peace of a classical chinese garden, my heart beats very fast. I had hoped I went to Cambodia during the Christmas Holidays, but for some problems I have not been able to.

 
Così oggi mi limito a sognare i bellissimi posti che ho avuto la fortuna di visitare finora.
E così torno a Pechino, nel Palazzo d'Estate, arrancando sulla Collina della Longevità per arrivare al Padiglione del Profumo Buddista. O di fronte al Tempio del Cielo, perfetto rotondo e decorato in azzurro.
O ancora camminando tra i padiglioni della Città Proibita.

So today I just stop and dream of all the beautiful places I have been lucky enough to see so far. And I go back to Beijing, to the Summer Palace,  panting on the Longevity Hill to reach the Pavillon of the Buddist Scent. Or in front of the Temple of the Sky, perfect, round and blue decorated. Or again walking through the pavillons of the Forbidden City.


Torno a Shanghai, nel Giardino del Mandarino Yu, con le mura decorate dai draghi che servono a portare pioggia. E nel Tempio del Buddha di Giada, ammirando i bonsai su cui sono legati i cartoncini delle preghiere.

I go back to Shanghai, in the Mandarin Yu's Garden, with the walls decorated with dragons which bring rain. Or in the Jade Buddha Temple, admiring the bonsai trees on which are tied small ribbons with prayers.

O le tavolette di legno con scritte sempre le preghiere dei fedeli nel Tempio dell'Oca Selvatica a Xi'an. O la sera, ancora a Xi'an a gustare la specialità della città i ravioli al vapore con mille ripieni diversi.
Che meraviglia. Anche la crociera lungo il fiume Li, con i monti arrotondati lungo le sponde che si confondono nella nebbia della mattina e il villaggio di Da-xu, che abbiamo visitato al tramonto e mentre passeggiavamo tra le strade sulle soglie delle case si accendevano le tradizionali lanterne rosse...
Che sogno.

Or I see the wooden blocks with the prayers written on, inside the Savage Goose Temple in Xi'an. Or again in Xi'an, tasting the delicious  ravioli, with thousands of different fillings. I loved it.
Also the cruise on Li River, with the oddly -shaped mounts which faded in the morning mist  and Da-xu, which we visited at dusk and while we were walking among the narrow streets every house lighted a red lantern.... a dream

In Giappone non sono ancora andata ma è uno dei Paesi che prima o poi visiterò.
Per non annoiarvi troppo, ogi che è domenica vi lascio sognare in quest posti da favola, e domani invece vi mostro le nuove collezioni jap-style and china-style!!


I've never been to Japan but it's a country I really intend to visit.
In order not to bore you too much, today which is sunday I leave you dreaming these beautiful places, and tomorrow I'll show you my new collections, jap-style and china-style!! 

La Legge di Ohm

Riflettevo tra me e me al termine di un mattino di studio/ripasso....
Com'è la legge di Ohm? La differenza di potenziale tra due punti di un conduttore è pari al prodotto tra l'intensità di corrente e la resistenza. Giusto?
Applicazione pratica: la differenza di conoscenza all'interno della mia testa al termine dello studio è pari alla quantità di informazioni che cerco di far entrare moltiplicato per la resistenza (leggi: stanchezza, mancanza di allenamento, rimozione totale di alcuni argomenti che pure avevo studiato....)
Legge di Stevino! Rocce ignee! Formule di Briggs! Sviluppo embrionale! Orbitali atomici! Entalpia! Classificazione delle droghe! Ciclo dell'azoto! Alcani-alcheni-alchini! Continuità delle funzioni! Fotosintesi! Potenziale redox! Formazione del suolo!

I was thinking by myself, at the end of a studying/revising saturday morning....
Which is Ohm's Law? The potential difference within a conductor is the product between the current and the resistance. Is this correct?
Practical application: the knowledge difference in my brain when I finish studying is equal to the product between the mass of information I try to store and my poor brain's resistance (which is: weariness, lack of training, total removal of some issues I had once studied....)
Stevin's Law! Magmatic rocks! Briggs formulae! Embryo development! Atomic orbitals! Enthalpy! Drugs classification! Nitrogen cycle! Alkanes-alkenes-alkynes!  Continuity of a function! Photosynthesis! Redox potential! Soil formation!

Vi mostro una cosa veloce, però, prima di rituffarmi nei libri. Ho pensato di utilizzare la mia macchina da cucire non solo per la realizzazione di bambole e oggetti di artigianato, per quanto belli e divertenti, ma anche per cucirmi qualche vestito, esattamente come dico io!
Quest'estate avevo fatto un paio di top leggeri, che prima o poi vi mostrerò, ecco invece un top invernale in lana, incrociato su davanti e con maniche a kimono. Vi piace???

I just show you one quick thing, before diving again into my books. I started using my sewing machine not just for the realization of some craft, 'though funny and relaxing, but also to sew myself some dresses. Last summer I made a couple of tops, which I will show you sooner or later, and here you are a winter woolen top, with kimono sleeves.

ps: la legge di Ohm non l'ho ancora ripassata, in realtà... tutto quanto è "elettrico" è un po' la mia bestia nera.... ma la dovrò pur affrontare! ... da lunedì però..... :-)
