Decluttering the bedroom - jewellery storage

Very quickly I gjust want to post a small project I had already realized some time ago.
Remember the confusion among the boxes I keep my jewellery into?? (picture here)
Well, I put in order my rings.
I just needed: a squared box, a few batting, needle and thread.
I simply made some batting rolls, closed on the back with a couple of stitches and I put them inside the box.
Very very easy and it took me about 15 minutes. The result however is much better, don't you think??
Now the rings are ok too (honestly I have already organized bangles and bracelets too, I'll show them in a few days!)
Cheers

Around the world update (Jordan)

My journey to Jordan (2013)

I updated my travel page, in this first autumn sunday (how I love it!).
here you are the pictures of the journey to Jordan I did this sprimg, 'fore the temperature (both meteorological and not) grew too high.
I have already written a lot about this journey, just a couple of words: it has been a week spent through archaeological sites, roman and islamic, through the crusaders castles and places full of spirituality, such as Mount Nebo, week that ended in the spectacular and moving Petra.

See ya!

I love September

I adore September. I love the sensation of waking up in the morning, open the window and feel that fresh air while the sky is full of a sweet golden light. I love the sensation of promises and new beginnings this month carries along. I love the colours that start to dress up the trees, form the greens to the golds passing through all the shades of oranges and reds. I love to get insiede my cold bed and roll myself up in the blankets while Ron takes it place beside me.  I love the beginning of the oven-season! Finally, after the suffocating summer months when even getting close to the kitchen is a torture I adore my home filled with the perfume of pies, pizzas, quiches and other oven-cooked dishes. And I start cooking pumpkins both in sweets and in pasta or soups or with cheese pies...
After December, which is the month of my birthday, of Christmas, of that magic festive atmosphere that I still love as if I were a kid, September is the month I love best.

So, as today I'm happy and I'm cooking a nice black grapes pie, here you are the pictures of my favourite sweets. They're all variation of the basic cupcake recipe, with different types of icing or decorations. I love these littles, with the perfect size not to become too sweet, neither with the buttecream, thanks to the pan my friend Marina gave me last Christmas...

Enjoy!

Decluttering the bedroom - jewellery storage

Hi there!
Tutte noi amiamo avere dei bei pezzi, no?
Pronti? Volete vedere??

Hi there!!
I'm continuing my decluttering mission and I have to say I'm doing pretty fine. I also happen to wander around the house in the morning asking myself what to put in order!!
The wardrobe still needs some more work, I have to sew a cover for the stair (in order not to ruin the white painting of the wall, it has its place between the wardrobe and the window) and I have to realize a nice covering for a small set of baskets in which I keep all my craft but we're almost done.
And I finished trying to figure out a solution for my jewellery, which, since I started to realize myself what I like the most, has litterally exploded!
I searched a lot on the web, to find a solution which is both nice and functional and then I started to work on it. We all love to have beautiful pieces, don't we? They make every suite the most wonderful with colour, happiness or simple elegance. But when they're all tied up together or you can't see them, you always end up to use the same necklace or the same pair of earrings. Annoying!
Are you ready? Do you want to see??

Here is a picture of the before - on a shelf in my wardrobe I used to keep my jewellery sorted out like this:
1 - bracelets divided in a box, in a plastic bag and bangles tied up with a wire,
2 - necklaces in a box with 2 rooms inside.
3 - earrings in a box with 4 rooms inside,
4 - rings: all put inside a short squared box,
5 - broochs inside a small basket.
And all of them non matching!!

Jewellery storage - before

Ho iniziato a concentrarmi sugli orecchini.
Erano divisi più o meno in 4 tonalità: oro/bronzo/marrone/giallo/arancio; argento/nero/grigio/bianco; rosa/rosso/viola; blu/azzurro/verde.
Earrings organizer - materials

I started with the earrings.
They were divided in 4 colours: gold/bronze/brown/yellow/orange; silver/grey/black/white; pink/red/purple; blue/green.
But, anytime I was searching for an earring, I had to almost empty the box! I have concluded that if a container needs to be functional, all its inside must be visible and well organized.
I did this way. I bought some natural frames (they were on sale in packages of 3), some hinges and screws. I took away the glass and united the frames 2 by 2 and at last I glued some burlap on the back with the hot glue.
In a couple of hours I realized a nice display for all my earrings (I needed 12 frames!)
No more wasted time!!!

Che ne dite?
Semplice, veloce, economico e molto comodo!!! E quando è chiuso occupa pochissimo spazio!

What do you think?
Simple, quick, cheap and very very functional!! An when it's closed it keeps just a little space!

Around the World update (China)

My journey to China (2008)

Here you are another update of my Travelling Page: the journey to China!
A destination I have chosen all of a sudden, but which has been then meditated for over a year. A journey that has brought me to discover Shanghai, where the frenzy night life in the skyscrapers district lives together with the quiet of the classical chinese gardens; to discover the Guang-xi countryside in the south of the Country, navigating along the Li River framed by the rounded peaks fading in the morning fog. Xi'an, with the temples, the islamic district and the terracotta army and Beijing, at last, with its many bright colours and gold on the imperial palaces and temples walls. The hutong on a rickshaw, the traditional market, the red lanterns enlighted in the evening, the steam-cooked ravioli, the pharmacies in which traditional remedies are still sold.....

Enjoy!!

Decluttering!

Decluttering the wardrobe - 1

Decluttering the wardrobe -2

Here we are!
The task has been difficult indeed (and I have not finished yet!), but I already have some results.
So far: me = 1 - clutter = 0!!!
I decided to start with my bedroom. Usually declutterers start with the more used room, in my case, as the bedroom is the less used of all the rooms in my home it's the one in wich clutter accumulates over time.

I decided to work on a single wardrobe unit at the time as I would have been overwhelmed and discouraged by the amount of the job to do.
Result: I have a much more tidy wardrobe, I threw away so many things I used to keep just for the memories they were but which I honestly didn't want to keep anymore and I filled 10 (10!) bags with clothes, shoes and bags I did not use anymore and that went imediatly to charity.

A couple of Before/After to show you my work. What do you think??

It's still not finished (and I know I can still do more for these units...)
