I'm back (part V and stop)

Che vergogna! E' passato quasi un mese! E' volato, in realtà, non me ne sono quasi accorta ed ecco che mi sono resa conto che manca l'ultima tappa del bellissimo viaggio in Giordania!
Mi dispiace per chi mi segue e non vede aggiornamenti, ma tra le tante cose da fare e questo caldo che mi rende pigrissima, proprio non riuscivo a scrivere!

What a shame! It's passed almost one month! Time has flown by, I have almost not even noticed, and now, I have realized the only the last part of my beautiful trip to Jordan is missing!
I'm sorry for my followers who find no updates, but the many things to do and this hot that makes me very lazy, have made me not willing to write a single word!

In ogni caso, dopo una meravigliosa ma faticosa giornata a Petra ci mettiamo in cammino verso il profondo sud del Paese, verso il deserto del Wadi Rum. Mi piacciono i deserti. Mi fanno pensare a quanto dobbiamo imparare dalla natura che danneggiamo ogni giorno, ma che in qusti luoghi ogni giorno ci ricorda qual'è l'ordine delle cose. Ovviamente è tutto molto turistico, ma cerco sempre di trovare quel briciolo di autenticità nelle esperienze come questa. Non che ne abbia visitati molti di deserti, in ogni caso...

Anyway, after a marvelous but very tiring day in Petra, we take our way southbound, toward the Wadi Rum Desert. I like deserts. They make me think how much we have to learn from nature, which we spoil everyday, but which, especially in these places, everyday reminds us the right order of things. Obviously it's very tourist-like, but I always try to find that little authentic touch in these experiences. Not that I have seen so many deserts, anyway...

La nostra esperienza consiste di due parti: la prima è un tour in 4x4 del deserto e per coloro che vogliono, parte del percorso può essere fatto a cavallo di dromedari. Chiaramente devo farlo. Ogni volta mi trovo a pensare "la prossima volta" e ho iniziato a considerare... e se non mi capita più l'occasione??
Provo questa cosa nuova e divertente, ma devo ammettere di avere anche un po' paura. Il dromadario è davvero alto e sono legati per le caviglie ogni due o tre animali in modo che il branco resti unito e quando uno di loro individua dell'erba fresca... devi solo sperare che non si mettano a correre tutti insieme!
Il paesaggio non è particolarmente vario, soffici dune di sabbia, a tratti roccioso e decisamente rosa!
Questo è il luogo in cui viveva Lawrence d'Arabia e dal quale ha aiutato i Giordani dell'epoca a ottenere l'indipendenza dall'impero Ottomano.

Our "experience" consists in two parts, the first one is a tour of the desert with 4x4 vehicles, and for those who want to try the experience, a little bit of the trail will be on dromedary back. I have to try this. Everytime I tell myself "next time" and I've begun to think.... what if I don't have this chance again??
So I try this new thing, very funny but I have to admit I was also a bit scared! The dromedary is very tall, they're bound together in two or three by their ankles and when one of them spots some fresh grass... you only have to hope they don't run all together!
The landscape is not so various, soft sand dunes, a bit rocky, and very very pink.
This is the place Lawrence of Arabia lived and form where he helped the Jordans reach their independence from the Ottomans.

La seconda parte, più prosaica, consiste invece in un pranzo sotto le tende beduine. Ho mangiato piatti deliziosi, con i compagni di viaggio siamo stati abbastanza unanimi a decretare questo "ristorante" il secondo migliore dell'intero viaggio (il primo è stato quello vicino a Jerash). Era anche il compleanno di una di noi, così tra vassoi di tè alla menta e caffè arabo abbiamo ricevuto come regalo un bellissimo concerto di  liuto giordano.

The second part consisted instead of a wonderful lunch under the bedouins' tents. I ate some of the most deliciuos specialities, and talking with the other travel mates we all agreed this was the second best "restaurant" of all the tour (the gold medal has been won by the one near Jerash). It was also one of our friends' birthday so we were all treated with a beautiful jordan guitar concert between turkish coffee and mint tea.

E' stato un viaggio bellissimo, molto sofferto, molto desiderato e che mi ha ripagato con splendidi luoghi, oltre ad avermi avvicinato ancora di più al mondo medio-orientale, che mi attira come una calamita. Uno dei miei sogni è visitarlo tutto, il Libano con i suoi eccezionali siti archeologici, la povera Siria, la Palestina, Gerusalemme e i luoghi santi....
ma invece, la valigia che mi aspetta e che prima o poi dovrò decidermi a fare, sarà piena di vestiti più pesanti e impermeabili.... questa volta si parte per la Russia!

It's been a lovely journey, very longed for, with some hard-decision involved, but which has rewarded me with wonderful places which have made my love for Middle-East  deeper. One of my deams is to visit the whole area, Lebanon with superb archaeological remains, the poor Syria, Palestine, Jerusalem and the Holy Places....
But the suitcase that awaits me, and that I'll have to do, sooner or later, will be full of warm clothes and raincoats... this time we leave for Russia!!!
