A very quick update

Tutto in feltro colorato, nastrini e stoffa coordinata.

So, another week has gone without almost realizing it!! It has been hard and I am expecting an even harder period ahead, but on the other hand, after so many empty months, I'm finally full of energy to do a lot of things. I feel active, and this is good.
My working projects are experiencing indifference and difficulty, which everyone has to deal with in this historical moment, but I don't despair. I think I am a person able to adapt and survive the complicated situations.
Only that... I was so taken that I could dedicate very little time to craft: this week I only finished a first fat angel for Christmas (don't laugh, please..., Christmas comes earlier every year and I am never ready!), dressed in the softiest white pile and I have started a series of keychains (by request of the Sister, who asked me  for a nice keychain to hang to her coffee key). I have studied three items: a sweet muffin with a lot of icing, a coffee (or tea..) cup and a small angry owl. All made in coloured felt, ribbons and coordinated fabric. Don't love to work with felt that much but I had a lot of fun and I like the result.
Oh, and I also finished a serie of necklaces/bracelets.. with the new fashion trend: the jungle look. Very proud of them.
And yesterday, for a dinner invite from an old friend, I cooked some delicious pumpkin muffins, filled with the cheesecake batter and decorated with a sprinkle of coconuts and cinnamon....

A presto!

I love Milano - Art Nouveau (1)

I think I'm going towards a very rough time!. In these last days in which I neglected my poor blog, contrary to my good intentions, I started to build a possible future change of life (only in the working field!). My future is completely uncertain, but the spring and summer months gave me the chance to think a lot and to set clearly some of my goals and ambitions. Changing scares me a lot but maybe I'm in a lucky situation: I can only change, I have no other way. Let's see what the new season brings and if the seeds I'm sowing this winter will bloom into wonderful flower next spring.
So I thought to take you with me today in a wonderful little corner of Milan: an area full of  Art Nouveau decorated buildings. My friend Francesca told me she once read a beautiful description of Milan, which reflects completely the  style of my city: it has a beauty similar to the japanese gardens, hidden and discrete, cultivated with pride in the intimacy of the home, and not exhibited with bad taste.
Our destination today is a small neighborough just beyond the famous "corso Buenos Aires", at the end, next to the metro station of Porta Venezia. It's enough to move a little away from the noisy chaos of the Milan low-cost shopping centre to find out an unexpected, elegant and surprising corner.

The beauty of this place is summarized by the building in via Malpighi 3: just look at the decorations! Look at the colours, at the shapes! Who can expect this in Milan?? The façade had transformed into a canvas, all the space free from the elements such as the windows or the frame roof has become space to be decorated. The coloured tiles embrace the eye of who's admiring this building and leave him unbelieving.
Proceeding on the same street there's another finely decorated building, but this time the artist has played with the constructing material: cement. On the façade there are medallions, figures follow each other, branches and leaves do embrace one another. Wonderful. Inside there is a courtyard closed by a beautiful fence made of iron and decorated by roses and curves (just look at the lamp in the entrance!) and an elegant palace in which the same decorative elements are used again on the stairs, on the ceilings, on the wooden doors... One of the apartments can be visited by appointment only: it's already in my short term agenda!
And then, walking with your nose upwards, in the small streets all around, the style of this neighborough is underlined by the many shapes of the iron balconies, some in the art nouveau style, with flowers and soft curves, some instead in the art déco style, of the same period but much more geometric.
We have walked a lot, haven't we?Although we don't feel it, it's time to give some rest to our tired feet. Not too much, because next time we are going to visit another splendid liberty building: the ome which hosts the Milan aquarium.

Seee ya!

Three Autumn Ladies

Here we are with my new other creations.
Three wonderful ladies who are looking for a new home... each one of them brings the fruits of the coming autumn: one a nice orange pumpkin, to prepare wonderful pies, another one a basket full of red and juicy apples, the last one some fall-coloured flowers.
They all have a warm wool scarf, to protect themselves from the first bad weather.
I love them all three, three angels to give a fall touch and colours to your houses!
Today I'm full of positive energy.
And today I'm able to lock away my anxiety (well, today. tomorrow... is another day, as Scarlet O'Hara said...)

See ya!

Welcome Autumn

Fall garland (green doll)

Fall garland (brown doll)

Fall garland (flower)
Chi le vuole??
Alla prossima!

In these days the weather is totally unpredictable: yesterday it was warm and sunny, today I'm thinking of turning on the oven and cooking a nice pie!
ALso my mood is still like that: today I'm in a positive-creative way and it seems I don't have enough life to finish all the things I am doing - all things I decided to do, so I could just slow down a bit but time is running so fast!
Thus I thought today to be the perfect day to start showing you some of my fall creations... do you remember I told you I was sewing some angel dolls?
These are the first two of them (but they're not angels): they form a welcome garland to hang on the door, on the mantlepiece (the lucky ones of you that have it) or simply give beauty and a country touch to a bookshelf or a cupboard.
In this moment they're on my radiator, but they're looking for a new home.

The patter in Tilda, I sewed two autumn dresses and instead of the original hearts, they have these felt flowers and leaves in their hands (binded with a crystal bead).
They look like cheerleaders, don't you think so??

Anyone interested??

Cooking

Enjoy!

Considering the weather in these days and also the fact that I'm a bit sad, what better remedy than cooking to bring in some colours??
Sunday I treated myself to a wonderful lamb koresh with apricots, which sweeten a bit the lamb taste. I added some cous cous to feel imediately the middle-east atmosphere.
On Monday, I thought to start using some of my overgrown plant of basil, so I prepared some fresh pesto for the autumn. And as I was already in thr kitchen, I also cooked a nice vegetables tart with peppers and aubergines.
In this very moment I have a slice of fresh salmon with sunflower seeds in the oven, which I will serve with a sauce made of eggs, vinegar and potatos (in my family we call it "potato mayonnaise"). Later (or better tomorrow) I'm going to prepare also a pear and chocolate pie and I'll try the hungarian salted pastries.
What else???

Enjoy!

London calling...

Finalmente piove!!

It's finally raining.
It's a couple of days that even in Milan we're breathing cool air and it's possible to sleep with the fan turned off.
An so... this gray sky makes me think of my beloved England and I thought to sew a small set to keep in the bag. It's made of a case for eyliner/lipstick/mascara and a small pochette.
I adore this cute blue fabric decorated with the symbols of London. How I wish I were there in this exact moment! But I can't, I have to stay here to re-invent my life....
